Be Positive

For the last part of the day we were asked to produce typography that had something to do with our future - or that reflected how we perceived the future. Before going to this class I thought about what I could produce that would reflect my future - however at the moment I'm still unsure and sometimes this makes me worry (I can some times be such a worrier) and so I thought about using the words  'be positive' giving myself advice about staying positive for the future. For me this means a lots as sometimes we can worry, stress out and feel negative about my work and even life and so I choose this for my typography. After selecting the words I had to come up with a design. I knew that I wanted to place the words in the middle but the design was still a mystery. I chose to use this elegant and typography with curly ends because it gives an extra piece of creativity and makes the words even more interesting - furthermore I feel as if this represents my style at times. I added a shine to the font to give more impact of the letters and words to those reading it - it also makes the font appear more realistic (hence applying to reality.) This shine also gives the appearance of 'new and shiny' words which gives good connotations.

I decided to use black font so that the words stand out the most to the viewer (and is what is read first) this is important because the background is very colourful and busy. I also decided to have a circle of white space to appear like an orb of light around the word (positive light) projecting around from the word. The background was done with watercolour - I used different methods to generate texture such as blending, paint splats and watermarks (so that there is a variety of things given by the image.) Overall I really like the whole image and typography. I think the background and word work well and compliment each other - I can't help but feel 'positive' and 'happy' when looking at this.

  1. When I first saw this image, I thought the typography was done on Photoshop or illustrator, as it looks very professional and precise. You put a lot of thought around how you wanted to present your typography; with this you are instantly attracted to the colours, as they are intense and positive which obviously fits.
