Item 3 - Nan's Swan

When I was 6 years old my nanny died. I was a bit young to understand however I know some of my strongest early memories were when we visited her every Saturday. When she passed away me and my sisters was able to pick something from her house to keep. I decided to pick this swan (it originally was a toast holder - but I removed that part :) I have always had this item so have quite strong memories of my nan attached to it.

Below is the drawing I created from this precious object. I really like how it came out. I decided to draw the head more darker and the body fading to represent how my memory of my nan has faded over time and how I can't remember all the time I shared with her because I was so young. I also decided to add feathers floating away from the swan to emphasis her death but to softened the drawing further. In addition I also drew the swan on water to give life to the object (memory gives life to the object.) The only thing I really don't like about the art is that it is so light. I did this half on purpose however if I used more tones it could have given more depth to the art. Maybe if I had used a different medium the picture would look bolder on the page.
