This is an object I picked from my past. I had completely forgotten all about it! This is a small round glass stone, when I was younger it was really important to me. When I was a child I had a very large imagination. I used to believe it was magical and so used to carry it everywhere with me. As crazy as it seems I used to stand around in the back of my garden closing my eyes pretending I was miles away in a mythical land as a mermaid. This tiny object use to give me so much power.
The second photo is the drawing I created from this item. I tried to capture all the different colours within the reflective stone. I really like the mixture of shapes and shades that my design has captured since it does disguises what the object actually is. However I think that the work could have used more colour - if I had more time I would have made sure that the stone was completely full of different shades of blues. If this picture had more colour it definitely would have made the stone out. I think that this picture didn't work because it didn't project my memory of my childhood - of magic, mermaids and imagination. Again if I re did this piece I might have included some of the adventures I imagined as a child. However for a 10 minute drawing the picture has its own charm because of the shine I've included.
