I breifly have looked into surrealism - such as works by David Lynch. I watch a short animation called an Absurb encounter with fear which i felt displayed the idea of fear incredibly. He used sound and tension to make the audience involved within his work. I also looked into the Elephant Man which is a heart whrenching story about a man that is disfigured and lives his ife within anxiety. I especially liked the scene where we see the professior reaction of the elephant man - we see a tear roll down his face (we only see his reaction and not the elphant man and I feel that this is very powerful. David Lynch is wonderful at evoking emotion from his audiencce and knows how to get that reaction. Although I feel that surrealism is a very good tool in expressing a dream like experience I do not llike that it is often weird and hard to understand for some. I want my animation to appeal to more or less everyone.
